Texting Voters
Is texting voters a fit for me?
In order to text voters, you must have a computer or laptop and be able to easily switch between email, your web browser, Zoom, and various apps. Texting voters sometimes requires checking for replies and responding to them over several days.
Do I need to use my cell phone to text voters?
Texting is done entirely on a computer. You do not use a cell phone or your own phone number.
How do I know what to say in my texts to voters?
Scripts are provided to guide your texting conversations.
Do people know that it is me texting them?
Your personal info is never shared with the people you are texting.
Do we text at specific times or at any time of day?
Some texting is done by signing up in advance for a shift. Other groups offer drop in texting. Texting assignments can sometimes run out so arrive at the beginning of the shift or start in the morning.
What if I don’t know what to do when texting voters?
Campaigns provide live support during the shift via a Slack group or a Zoom call.
